Australia Wide & New Zealand

The International Police Association (Australian Section) has joined forces with Choice Hotels Australasia to obtain the best deals for IPA members residing in and visiting Australia and New Zealand.

The Choice Hotel chain is growing fast. They currently have 235 properties in Australia, 35 in New Zealand and are affiliated with over 5,700 hotels worldwide.

All IPA members need to do is quote the IPA Special Corp ID number 00069270 to Choice Hotel’s reservations staff on the free call number 13 24 00 when making a reservation or enter it on the Choice Hotels website home page to get the Best Available Rate. Members will be advised of other specials available such and bed and breakfast deals or free night deals.  The IPA member must produce their IPA membership card on arrival to get the special rate.

Also available free of charge is a Choice-Privileges card which is a rewards program that can be converted into Hotel rewards, airline rewards with participating airline (including Air New Zealand, Qantas and Velocity) or hotel gift vouchers.  IPA members joining this free rewards program will be eligible to go into a draw to win a hotel stay package. Details of this will be available soon.

The advantage of Choice Hotels is their portfolio covers the full range of hotel quality from budget 3 star EconoLodge accommodation to 3.5 star Comfort Inns, 4 star Business Level Quality Hotels and 5 star Clarion luxury boutique Hotels and resorts (including Rendezvous group). Group discounts are also available if you are holding conferences or meetings.

Another free service provided by Choice Hotels is they will canvas hotels and resorts in the area of your choice and obtain the best quotes available for conferences.

"Dear Members - We have a fully self contained unit / granny flat at the rear of our house at 51 Benn Street Brinsmead (Cairns) and would like to make it available to IPA members for a reasonable fee. We have enclosed some photos for you to see what we have to offer.

The bedroom had a queen size bed with ensuite and would ideally suit a couple, however, the lounge sofa unfolds into a queen size bed as well and linen is provided for this bed too if necessary.

The unit is fully air conditioned, has a TV, DVD, stereo facilities and, wireless internet is available.

There is an outdoor setting under cover overlooking the mountains and the pool.

The pool is available for use and full laundry facilities are provided for exclusive use of the unit occupants.

We are situated approximately 9km's from Cairns City and it is recommended people have their own transport. There is a nearby bus stop but the service is limited.

Premier Inns - highly recommended.  I actually wrote a short article on them which was published in the Sunday Times travel section.  Excellent accommodation with good quality, good priced food in the attached pub style restaurant that most of them have.  Some as cheap as 29 pounds per night at various times.  Also, I downloaded them as Points of Interest to my TomTom satnav so finding them was made very easy.
